For the past four years The Heart Project, led by photographer Karen Alsop, has run a project to bring Christmas joy to sick children through specially edited portraits.

Using Photoshop, team members have visited children in hospitals and created portraits that take them out of their present situation and transport them into a Christmas Wonderland. In this fourth year, they have undertaken a series of shoots in Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Canada and the USA. There were 60 remote editors, 200 volunteers 11 locations and more than 400 images edited and presented to families. Founder, Karen Alsop was at each of these locations to oversee the large scale project. In addition to their hospital visits, Karen, with the support of Nikon, Epson and other sponsors, ran full day workshops in each state to train the growing team of volunteers. Santa flew across the country with Virgin Australia.
