The Museum of Australian Photography has announced an exhibition of photographs by Anne Zahalka, titled ‘ZAHALKAWORLD – an artist’s archive’ will open on 10 June, 2023.

Anne Zahalka: ‘The Bathers  1989’, from the series ‘Bondi: playground of the Pacific’;
chromogenic print, 95.0 x 112.0 cm. Museum of Australian Photography, City of Monash Collection, courtesy of the artist.

Spanning four decades of the photographer’s illustrious career  it presents her most iconic photographs, many of which represent key moments in Australia’s history. The centrepiece of the exhibition is a recreation of the artist’s own studio, allowing audiences to access an environment they would rarely enter. This immersive space provides a deeper understanding of the conceptual and practical aspects of an artist’s methods which are often hidden and unseen by the public’.

The exhibition will run from 10 June to 10 September, 2023, at the newly rebranded Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh) at 860 Ferntree Gully Road, Wheelers Hill, Victoria 3150. Entry is free of charge.
