Exclusive to Sydney, Hiroshi Sugimoto: Time Machine is the largest exhibition to date of the internationally renowned artist’s work and will feature key works from the artist’s major photographic series. Employing a large-format camera and mixing his own darkroom chemicals, Sugimoto has often revisited ideas and practices from 19th-century photography, capturing subjects such as dioramas, wax figures and architecture. His work has stretched and rearranged concepts of time, space and light that are integral to the medium. For Sugimoto, photography is uniquely suited for preserving and picturing time’s passage, functioning as a form of time machine. Tickets for the exhibition are priced at AU$28 for adults or $20 for concession card holders. Entry is free for young people 17 years of age and under and also free for MCA Members. The works will be on display until 27 October, 2024. The museum is closed on Tuesdays but open on other days from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Click here for more information.
