The Centre for Contemporary Photography has been forced to vacate its home of nearly 20 years at 404 George St, Fitzroy, and will relocate temporarily at the nearby Collingwood Yards arts precinct.

The Collingwood Yards arts precinct will become the new home for the Centre for Contemporary Photography from late September until a new permanent location is found.

The move, which is due to a withdrawal of support from the Federal and State funding bodies, will take place on 31 August. It has been associated with a loss of jobs at CCP, with Gallery Manager, Tyler Meredith, and Curator Catlin Langford departing due to a lack of funds to retain them. In the short-term future the CCP will occupy a ‘project space’ at nearby not-for profit arts precinct Collingwood Yards where a smaller program of exhibitions and events will be delivered. Details of a full program of exhibitions for the remainder of 2024, and for 2025; as well as further announcements of programming and events will be shared at a future date.
