August 22, 2006: Epson has just released a new matte white proofing paper that has been developed for its 800 series large format printers and UltraChrome K3 inks.
The new Epson Proofing Paper White Semimatte paper looks and feels like traditional press printing paper, allowing users to see how work will appear when printed. Engineered to absorb a high amount of ink while accurately maintaining dot shape and size, its high ink absorption combined with dot shape and size will produce high-quality, colour-accurate proofs. The new media offers excellent short-term colour stability when used with Epson’s UltraChrome K3 inks, making it ideal for fast turn-around contract proofing. The paper has a special Epson Proof watermark on the back for easy identification. It is currently 3DAP approved with the GMG RIP and further approval is being sought for other third-party RIP products over the coming months.
Epson’s Proofing Paper White Semimatte has a weight of 250 gsm and is 10 mm thick. It boasts 98% opacity and has a neutral white surface. No optical brighteners have been added. It is available in 30.5 metre rolls in the following widths: 17-inch, 24-inch, 36-inch and 44-inch. Owners of UltraChrome K3 printers (Stylus Pro 4800, 7800 or 9800 models) who register their printers between Tuesday August 22 and Friday September 22 at www.epson.com.au/prographics can qualify to receive a free roll of this new paper. Full product specifications can be found on the same website.
