Epson Unveils Personal Photo Printer

: Epson’s new PictureMate personal photo printer will be on show at The Photo Imaging World equipment show in Sydney’s Darling Harbour from 21-23 May.

This innovative inkjet printer has been designed for direct printing of snapshot sized (10 x 15 cm) prints and features a fold-down carry-handle that makes it easy to carry. The PictureMate has a USB port for direct printing from a digital camera or camcorder and is compatible with the PictBridge and USB Direct Print standards as well as being DPOF- and PIM-enabled. Slots are provided for SD/MMC, Memory Stick, CompactFlash type I/II, SmartMedia, xD-Picture Card and IBM Microdrive media. In addition, users can automatically back up digital images from the camera memory card directly to externally-connected devices, including CD-R and ZIP [TM] drives. An optional Bluetooth module allows it to print images directly and wirelessly from Bluetooth-enabled cameras and camera phones.
The PictureMate’s ‘Print Pack’ ink and paper set consists of a single UltraChrome Hi-Gloss ink cassette plus 100 sheets of 10 x 15 cm paper. Epson’s Advanced MicroPiezo print head technology and 6-colour pigment ink ensures that photos can last for up to 100 years when cased in a glass frame or 200 years in a photo album. PictureMate also reproduces the finest detail from high resolution images, delivering up to 5760 x 1440 optimised microscopic 2.5 picolitre droplets per inch for clear detail and smooth colour gradations.
