We have already published preliminary details of this printer, which is known as the SureColor P5000 in most overseas markets. Whereas three versions of the new printer are being offered in other parts of the world, in Australia the printer will only be offered with two different ink configurations, one using Light Light Black and another that uses Violet ink. The Light Light Black configuration delivers smooth and neutral tonal transitions and support of the Epson Advanced Black and White print mode, which is ideal for photography, fine art and graphic design applications and delivers 98% PANTONE coverage. The version configured with Violet ink in place of Light Light Black is designed for commercial, graphic and proofing applications and achieves an expanded colour gamut to deliver an industry-best 99% PANTONE coverage.
Both models use the new UltraChrome HDX 10-colour ink set, with the inks supplied in 200 ml cartridges. The inks use newly developed core pigments and black inks that are 1.5 times denser than the previous generation to deliver a wider contrast ratio with improved resin encapsulation technology for superior gloss uniformity and sharper images. A new 10-channel PrecisionCore TFP printhead includes a new ink-repellent surface coating, along with improved dust and static control for reduced nozzle clogging and maintenance. It supports printless nozzle checks for time, production and resource efficiency.
The SureColor P5070 also offers versatile media handling capabilities with auto-switching between the high-capacity front paper cassette and roll media feeder. Its power-driven roll media spindle is ideal for producing panoramas and roll printing up to 100 feet, and the printer includes an internal high-speed single pass rotary cutter. The high-capacity cassette can hold up to 100 sheets of premium photo paper at up to A2+ size. A front feed straight path is available for fine art sheet media, including poster board, up to 1.5mm thick. Auto-switching between roll and cassette sheet feeding allow both sources to be loaded at the same time.
The SureColor P5070 is available now through the Epson Australia website from RRP AU$2,695 and authorised Epson dealers in a variety of bundles, which include an optional SpectroProofer and CoverPlus service packs up to five years for business reliability. The 5-year onsite CoverPlus service pack option retails for AU$3,895 (incl. GST). Visit www.epson.com.au for more information.
