Epson’s new Perfection 2480 and Perfection 2580 scanners have been designed for home users who require higher resolution, 35mm film scanning capabilities and fast scanning speeds.
With a scan resolution of 2400dpi, the new scanners feature a MatrixCCD that increases scanner resolution without increasing the size of the carriage, and an innovative new Micro-Lens. Both models include a USB2.0 Hi-Speed interface to ensure full compatibility with PCs, plus an onboard ASIC chip to ensure faster processing of scans. The Perfection 2480 (RRP $299) has a built in 35mm TPU (transparency unit) for scanning film negatives and slides. Its lid-type TPU supports six-frame stripfilm and two mounted slides. The Perfection 2580 Photo (RRP $349) replaces the TPU with an auto 35mm film loader to enable easy scanning of 35mm strip film. It is ideal for users who need to digitise many 35mm images.
