April 28, 2006: Epson Australia has released the P-4500 multi media storage viewer, which provides high storage capacity, fast data transfer and functionality to suit professional photographers.
Described as a “big brother” to the P-2000, the P-4500 features an upgraded CPU and an 80GB hard drive that make downloading extra large professional quality images or video files 250% faster. It sports integrated CF and SD card slots and can store and display RAW format images as well as showing all EXIF metadata for images and light histograms for all image files. A new exposure alert feature highlights areas of the image that may be over- or under-exposed. Improved menu functions make viewing large images and different file formats on screen much quicker and easier. The P-4500 has four different viewing modes and an improved one-touch zooming function. Users can also create slideshows with background music from their favourite images and songs stored on the disk drive.
The 3.8 inch screen is one of the largest in its class and uses Epson’s Photo Fine technology which is an active matrix display featuring a Low Temperature Poly Silicon (LTPS) base charged by a Thin Film Transistor (TFT). It has a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and displays three colours per pixel at a screen density of 212 pixels per inch. Improved playback options on the Epson P-4500 allow you to play MPEG 1, 2 and 4 movies as well as DivX and Motion JPEG, MP3, ACC and MPEG4-ACC sound files. The built-in music player can be used while viewing images and can be controlled from a remote attached to the supplied headphones.
The P-4500 is supplied with Epson Link2 software, which allows easy organisation and transfer of media files between the device and a PC and provides a convenient back up feature to secure new data. It also allows users to download and convert video files so they can watch movies on the P-4500’s screen. As with DVD players, a resume function allows the user to turn the power off and on and resume watching from where they left off. Videos can be analysed frame by frame and automatic exposure correction improves viewing quality of videos with heavily contrasting light and dark scenes.
The Epson P-4500 is priced at $1199 RRP and is available through photo retailers and computer super-stores. For full product specifications on the P-4500 visit www.epson.com.au or phone 1300 361 054 for stockist details.
