Epson has released two six-cartridge inkjet printers, the Stylus Photo R290 and Stylus Photo RX610 all-in-one device, both of which use long-lasting Claria photographic inks.

October 5, 2007: Epson has released two six-cartridge inkjet printers, the Stylus Photo R290 and Stylus Photo RX610 all-in-one device, both of which use long-lasting Claria photographic inks.
The Stylus Photo R290 (RRP $149) is a single-purpose printer for printing high-quality photographs and documents. The Stylus Photo RX610 combines photo and document printing with scanning and copying. Both models support CD/DVD printing and both boast document printing speeds of up to 38 pages/minute. They can also produce 6 x 4 inch photo prints in as little as 12 seconds and are capable of printing with a range of ink droplet sizes from as small as 1.5 picolitres, at a resolution of up to 5760 optimised dpi. Epson’s advanced MicroPiezo print head and Variable Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT) with Resolution Performance Management (RPM) are included in both printers.

Both models use six colour Epson Claria photographic ink, which comes in six individual Intellidge cartridges, so consumers need replace only the ink cartridges that are used for cost effective printing. They also include the Epson PhotoEnhance utility, which automatically adjusts the colour balance to allow for the different requirements of portraits, landscapes or groups. In addition, both models also come with PortraitEnhance to detect faces in an image and enhance face definition and skin tones.
The Stylus Photo RX610 (RRP $299) has a 2.5 inch LCD viewer and multi-format memory card reader for PC-free photo printing, copying and scanning.
