Epson Australia has announced the immediate availability of the new Perfection V850 Pro photo scanner for film and photo copying and archiving.

Featuring 4800 x 6400 dpi optical resolution with a 4.0 Dmax optical density and proprietary dual lens scanning system, the Perfection V850 Pro caters for both advanced amateurs and professional photographers. Capable of handling originals from 35mm slides and film strips to medium format 6 x 20 cm and 4 x 5-inch sheet film, the Perfection V850 Pro features re-designed film holders which have sturdier frames for more consistent scans. Two sets of film holders are provided, allowing users to prepare for the next scan while the first batch is scanning. The dual lens scanning system automatically selects from two lenses for the desired scan resolution. The High Resolution Mode is used to achieve 4800 dpi (reflective up to 8.5 x 11-inch, transparency up to 8 x10-inch) and super resolution lens mode is used for 6400 dpi film scanning. Users can also quickly scan slide-packs and negative strips into printable contact sheets with the 8 x10-inch transparency adapter.
A new energy efficient ReadyScan LED light source enables the V850 Pro to use 23% less power than previous models and also offer 33% faster scans with no warm-up time required. High-pass optics with anti-reflection optical coatings and a high-reflection mirror boost image quality and performance. Three height adjustment levels allow greater fine control and an anti-Newton ring plate improves scan quality. Integrated Digital ICE technology can automatically remove defects such as dust, scratches and creases from films, slides and photos.
The V850 Pro is bundled with a comprehensive software package that includes Epson Scan with Easy Photo Fix for restoring faded colour photos, LaserSoft Imaging‘s SilverFast SE Plus Version 8 for controlling highlights and shadows, gradations, selective and global colour sharpening, and de-screening and Epson Copy Utility for copying documents and photos.
