The City of Sydney is inviting established and amateur photographers around Australia to take part in one of the country’s biggest photography competitions.
The annual Australian Life competition and exhibition is part of the City’s year-round Art & About Sydney program that showcases various forms of art in unusual spaces around Sydney. Open to professional and amateur photographers, it offers one of the biggest cash photography prizes in the country. The objective of the competition is to showcase images of Australia, from the epic to the intimate, from the harsh to the fragile. Judges will be ‘looking for images from across the country that engage and intrigue the audience, showing Australia beyond the icons’.
Entries open on Friday, 17 June and close at midnight on 29 July. Each photographer may enter up to two images, each in landscape orientation. Works may be in colour or black and white. Twenty finalists will be selected by a panel of judges to have their images printed in large format for an outdoor exhibition in Hyde Park from 15 September to 9 October, 2016.
