Entries have opened for the sixth Epson International Pano Awards competition, which is sponsored by Epson Australia and is dedicated to showcasing panoramic images, especially those created by image stitching.
This year’s prize pool is worth more than US$50,000 and includes case prizes of US$20,000. Early-bird entries close on Sunday, July 12 at midnight(UTC -11). The competition is split into three sections: open Awards, Amateur Awards and VR/360 Awards, with the Open and Amateur sections further divided between Nature/Landscapes and Built Environment/Architecture categories. An entry fee of US$20 applies for each image in the Open Awards, US$16 per image for the Amateur awards or US$12 for the VR/360 awards. An early-bird discount allows up to five images to be entered at the same time for the cost of four. Otherwise, no restrictions are made on the number of images that can be entered.
This year sees the introduction of a new Jeff Mitchum Fine Art Prize, with a first prize of US$5000. It is open to all entries in the Open competition that meet the following criteria: ‘unique and original subject matter, mastery of composition, patience, range of light, and balance that leads to compelling fine art images’. Also new is the Epson Digital Art Prize, which offers a US$1000 first prize for excellence in modern digital post-processing. It is open to all entries in the Open competition that meet the criteria and are not eligible for the Jeff Mitchum Fine Art Prize and is an additional award to the general prize pool. Another new special award in the Open competition is for the Highest Scoring Wide Angle Image.
