February 27, 2009: Eizo’s new ColorEdge CG242WK LCD monitor is now available in Australia.
Ideal for digital photography, video editing, pre-press and post-production applications, this 24.1-inch widescreen monitor has a native resolution of 1920 ø— 1200 pixels(16:10 aspect ratio). Its maximum brightness is 270 cd/m ², contrast ratio is 1100:1, and it supports horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 178 degrees. The wide gamut LCD panel reproduces 97% of the Adobe RGB colour space as well as the PAL/SECAM, SMPTE-C, and HDTV colour spaces used in broadcasting.
The new display is fully adjustable, with 82 mm height adjustment, 40 degree tilt, 70 degree swivel, and 90 degree pivot for portrait display. It also provides real-time simulation of two types of colour vision deficiency – protanopia and deuteranopia – for verification of how colour schemes appear to those with colour blindness. It claims a 6 ms midtone response time for smooth playback of moving images. A USB 2.0 hub is included with one upstream and two downstream ports.

The ColorEdge CG242W supports hardware calibration, which means the monitor itself is calibrated rather than the computer’s graphics board. This ensures no tones are lost in the calibration process and results in accurate on-screen colour. EIZO’s ColorNavigator calibration software1 is bundled with the monitor and is used for setting the target values for brightness, white point, and gamma. ColorNavigator works with a measurement device and uses the monitor’s 12-bit look-up table for accurate calibration in less than five minutes.

A 3D look-up table improves the panel’s RGB colour mixture, ensuring all greyscale tones from 0 – 255 will be set to a specific colour temperature, minimising the risk of colour casts in monochrome images. EIZO’s Digital Uniformity Equaliser (DUE) function ensures the entire screen will be practically uniform at each grey level by counteracting the brightness and chroma uniformity errors characteristic of LCD panels. 16-bit internal processing further ensures smooth display of greyscale tones.

DisplayPort and DVI-I inputs are included for connection to two PCs. The DisplayPort input provides a digital interface through a high-bandwidth connection. The DVI-I input accepts both analog and digital signals and also supports high bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) for viewing of content from HDCP-equipped devices.

The ColorEdge CG242W is supplied with a monitor hood to shield the screen from ambient light and screen cleaner kit. A five-year warranty is provided. For more information, contact Eizo Oceania on (02) 9462 7500 or email sales@eizo.com.au.
