May 21, 2009: Eizo Oceania has announced the development of a new Eizo 24-inch ColorEdge monitor, which has been built to FOGRA specification and will receive its world debut at PacPrint 2009 in Melbourne on May 26.
The Fogra Graphic Technology Research Association, which is based in Germany, was established to promote print engineering and its future-oriented technologies in the fields of research, development and application. The new Eizo monitor has been built to comply with FOGRA standards for accurate soft-proofing on monitors used in the graphic arts and imaging industries.
FOGRA certifies the entire soft-proofing system and this includes the viewing conditions, measuring tools and calibration/control software. The monitor is central to this configuration. To date, only Eizo’s CG210N, CG211 and CG221 monitors have passed the FOGRA testing and achieved pre-certification under ISO 12646 as suitable components towards achieving the FOGRAcert Soft-proofing System Quality Certificate.
The introduction of FOGRA certification for soft-proofing systems completes the loop in graphic arts creation, image processing and production. Colour and content can be assessed on approved, calibrated monitors set to emulate ISO 12647 standards, PSO, FOGRAcert and other standards.
The first pre-production model of Eizo’s 24-inch ColorEdge monitor can be seen on the DES stand (L55) at PacPrint, which runs until 30 May. In addition, Kayell on stand Q50 will be displaying an offset print alongside a masked Eizo soft-proof identical image. Pacprint visitors will be challenged to identify which is which! The new FOGRA-specific 24″ ColorEdge monitor is scheduled to be available commercially in the third quarter of 2009. Additional Eizo monitor models are currently undergoing FOGRA pre-certification.
