DxO Labs has announced the immediate availability of DxO ViewPoint 2, a software application for fixing problems with perspective and correcting volume deformations.
Based on DxO Labs’ proprietary correction technologies, DxO ViewPoint 2 offers simple visual tools that let users easily and efficiently correct two phenomena associated with wide-angle lenses: volume deformation of subjects on image edges and convergent lines.
The latest version includes a new tool for fixing convergent lines, even in complex images. It also uses the precision of DxO Optics Modules to correct optical distortions.
A new “Natural” setting shortcut lets users adjust the intensity of their image corrections to achieve a more realistic look. By default, DxO ViewPoint 2 offers an automatic cropping feature that lets users preserve image proportions for a more natural rendering after applying corrections. The software also offers a cropping mode that gives access to the entire image. The residual darkened zones can be easily resolved using editing software, allowing photographers to maximise the image field.
With just one license, DxO ViewPoint 2 can be used as a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements, Adobe Lightroom, and Apple Aperture, and as a standalone application for Mac and Windows. DxO ViewPoint 2 is now available for Windows and Mac in the DxO Labs online store and at photo resellers at a special discount price of US$49 (instead of $79), which is good through October 20, 2013. This upgrade is free to all owners of DxO ViewPoint who purchased a license on or after August 1, 2013. A fully-functional trial version of DxO ViewPoint 2, good for one month, is available on the DxO Labs website (http://www.dxo.com/intl/photography/download).
