February 14, 2008: DxO Labs has added support for the new Nikon D3 camera body and an initial selection of lenses to DxO Optics Pro v5, which was released for Windows in November, 2007.
The addition of this professional Digital SLR comes close on the heels of support for the recently released Nikon D300 advanced Digital SLR. Lens correction modules for three popular Nikkor lenses are available for the Nikon D3: the AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED, the AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D and the AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED. Support for the Nikon D3 and lenses is available in DxO Optics Pro v5 Elite.
At the heart of DxO Optics Pro v5 is an innovative raw conversion engine which includes a completely new demosaicing algorithm, which produces images with much more detail and fewer artefacts. A new development sees noise reduction performed up-front, before noise has a chance to be amplified by the raw conversion process. DxO Labs has also reset the demo limitation at “0” for everyone who has tried version 5. This means that those photographers wishing to test drive the software with the Nikon D3 can do so-even if they’ve previously reached their limit of two demo activations.
DxO Optics Pro v5 is available immediately on the company’s e-store or from selected retailers for Windows users. DxO Optics Pro v5 for Macintosh will first be available as a public-beta and is planned for distribution in autumn 2008. DxO Optics Pro v5 is available in Standard and Elite versions, with the Standard version priced at US$169 and the Elite version at US$299.
