October 31, 2007: DxO Optics Pro version 5 is scheduled for release next month (November), initially for the Windows platform with a Mac version at the end of the month.
The new version claims ‘radical advances’ in RAW development thanks to a new demosaicing engine and to completely new noise removal technology for RAW images. In addition, the software benefits from a total revamping of the user interface for greater comfort and comprehensibility, and a complete rewrite of the software improves speed by making use of GPU processing. Extending the existing library of camera and lens correction modules, DxO Optics Pro v5 will also support the latest Canon and Nikon Digital SLR camera bodies. Support for the Canon EOS 40D, Canon EOS 1Ds MKIII, Nikon D300 and Nikon D3 will be included in DxO Optics Pro v5 over the next few months.
DxO Optics Pro v5 will be available in Standard and Elite versions at pricing unchanged from version 4.5. The Standard version will sell for US$169, while the Elite version is priced at US$299. All customers who purchased DxO Optics Pro v4.5 on or after August 1st, 2007 are entitled to a free upgrade to version 5. For customers who purchased DxO Optics Pro before August 1st, 2007, the pricing of upgrades is as follows: Standard version ø¢â‚¬” US $95, Elite version ø¢â‚¬” US$125.
