April 29, 2005: The inaugural Daylesford Foto Biennale kicks off on 3 June and runs for a whole month, ending on 3 July 2005.
According to organisers, the Biennale will be an open forum for the promotion and discussion of all things photographic – a visual feast of high critical acclaim and broad public appeal. The program includes solo exhibitions by well-known photographers including Michael Coyne, Michel Paradinas, Anthony Browell, Christophe Bourguedieu, Tim Page, Julie Millowick, John Street and Anthony Scibelli. The Canon/APPA 2005 Travelling Exhibition will also on display, with an official opening on Saturday 4 June at 7 p.m. Shop windows in Daylesford will also display photographs representing a day in the life of Hepburn Shire.
The Daylesford Foto Biennale will also run a program of seminars and workshops covering all aspects of photography from traditional processes like gum printing to the latest digital techniques. An umbrella exhibition titled “Little Pictures – Big Ideas” will also run an open entry acquisitive prize for photography. Entries for this competition, which is limited to prints up to 12.7 x 17.78 cm in size, must be submitted by Wednesday 1 June.
