November 23, 2004: Australian-developed data recovery software for digital photos and videos will be available through Kodak Express stores in mid-December.
The applications have been developed by GetData, an Australian company formed by former forensic police officers, John Hunter and Graham Henley, and physicist Dr. Brett Hunter. The company has produced a suite of home and business software products following more than a million dollars investment and 9,000 development and testing hours. The first application, Recover My Files, was developed for restoring files struck down by a virus. Other products, like Recover My Photos, Recover My Emails, Explorer View and Burn My Files evolved from recognising public need. Kodak Express stores will be offering Recover My Photos and Explorer View.
RecoverMyPhotos is a digital image, video and sound recovery tool that can be used to access data from Flash, Memory Stick, Smart Media or other storage media, including PC hard drives. It will also recover movie and sound files such as AVI, MPEG, MOV and WAV. RecoverMyPhotos works with most types of direct camera connections where the media card appears as a drive letter on the PC. It displays the list of recovered files and previews pictures for selection and saving.
Explorer View is a time saving tool that allows users to search for and “preview” the right file in Windows Explorer – including photos and video. It is a simple, easy to use tool that does away with the annoying and time consuming opening and closing of files.
