September 19, 2006: The latest version of Corel’s flagship digital imaging software package has just been released and will be available in Australia towards the end of this month.
Priced at $199 ($139 for upgrade), the new version offers a range of versatile new features and enhancements that meet the needs of novices, photo hobbyists and professional photographers. Highlights include:
– A new Organiser function that makes it easy to store and locate images on a computer and is customisable to suit different users’ needs.
– A Time Machine function that lets users see what their photos would look like if they were taken in another era.
– A Colour Changer that allows users to realistically change the colour of an object or an area in a photo (such as clothing, painted objects or carpets) with a few easy clicks.
– New Film and Filters effects and a Skin Smoothing tool that lets users remove wrinkles, blemishes or scars from subjects in photos.
– Photo Trays that allow users to sort photos and group them in batches.
– A Quick Review function that allows users to manage their slide shows, apply a quick fix, set a rating and add captions to individual ‘slides’ and rotate images in a slide show.
– Increased Video File Compatibility that allows users to view video clips and extract individual frames from them.
– Enhancements to the Curves and Levels dialog boxes to provide greater control.
– A new snap function that allows user to get exact dimensions when cropping images.
– Expanded raw file support for leading digital cameras.
