Corel has made some attractive discount offers to customers who won’t be well-served by Adobe’s recent announcement that it will move its Creative Suite applications to Cloud-based subscription.

While Adobe’s  initiative is unlikely to upset corporate users, photo enthusiasts and educational institutions on tight budgets are likely to find their costs rise substantially and many will be reluctant to move to the Cloud-based subscription model. (Thom Hogan provides some compelling reasons why this might be the case at http://www.bythom.com/; dateline May 21, 2013.)

According to a report on the Imaging Resource website (www.imaging-resource.com), Corel will provide discounts that in some cases range up to around 60% off the regular retail pricing to customers moving from various Adobe products to their Corel equivalents  until 30 August, 2013. The discounts take effect immediately and, according to the local distributor, are also available to Australians. Products affected and the discounts on offer are listed below.

According to Corel’s website: The process is simple. After  trying our products for free, owners of Adobe products can buy the Upgrade version of the Corel software that matches their needs. There is a short form to fill out in order to confirm eligibility, and we’ll send an email with installation instructions shortly after.
