The Camera & Imaging Products Association has published Draft Standard specifications for Digital Photo Imaging Devices that are designed to provide guidelines for camera manufacturers.

 

June 4, 2007: The Camera & Imaging Products Association has published Draft Standard specifications for Digital Photo Imaging Devices that are designed to provide guidelines for camera manufacturers.
The guidelines apply to digital still cameras that are designed for consumer use and cover parameters such as lens focal lengths and their 35mm equivalents, aperture and zoom ratings, focus and shooting distances, shutter type and speeds, metering and exposure systems, effective subject brightness and dynamic ranges, exposure compensation, white balance and shooting modes. They also look at motion blur and stabilisation systems, flash systems, image sensor specifications, defective pixels, field of view coverage, viewfinder parameters, image recording and storage capacitiy.
