February 3, 2009: To coincide with International Women’s Day, The Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) has organised a black tie gala evening to raise funds for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre Appeal on Monday 9th March 2009.
With the theme of Celebrating Women in Photography, the event is being held in conjunction with photographic organisations in the UK, New Zealand and the USA and will showcase some of Australia’s leading women photographers. Among them are Ruby Spowart, Bronwyn Kidd, Kate Geraghty, Karen Gowlett-Holmes, Lyn Whitfield King and Jackie Ranken. A commemorative presentation of photographer, the late Olive Cotton’s life and career will also take place on the night. A special presentation will be made by AIPP photographer Fiona Harrison, who is currently going through her own cancer journey. This will include her thought-evoking self portrait images.
The Minogue family has agreed to donate a limited edition ‘Kylie‘ book as an auction item on the night. The book will be personally signed by Kylie in favour of the successful bidder. In addition, there will be a number of other items going to auction on the night to raise essential funds for the development of the Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre Appeal.
Celebrating Women in Photography – The Women Behind the Image will take place at the Park Hyatt Melbourne on Monday 9th March 2009 from 6.30pm.
