The new model boasts a “class leading” start-up time along with a 0.01 second shutter release lag time. A hybrid auto focus system incorporates normal contrast AF with a phase-detect sensor that also sets the depth of field. In addition, users can opt 7-point multi auto focus, with the ability to move the AF point freely to the left or right, up or down using the arrow keys. This area can be enlarged during playback to ensure correct focus. A Multi Bracketing feature allows users to take either 3 or 5 photos, applying different effects to each one. Users can vary exposure levels (AEB), white balance (WBB), and focus positioning (AFB) as well as choosing variations of colour, portrait, sharpness, saturation, and contrast levels. The EX-P600 also includes Casio’s BestShot sample scenarios. High-speed manual control is accessed via the proprietary “EX button”, which lets the user display and adjust the levels for white balance, ISO sensitivity, metering, and auto focus area settings on a single screen.
The Exilim PRO EX-P600’s rigid stainless steel body features the popular “Ex Fine Blast Treatment” used on other models in the Exilim range and supports a large, easy to see 2-inch LCD monitor with 115,200 pixels. Other significant features include use of Casio’s new four layer Stack MCM technology, or ‘Exilim Engine’, which greatly improves the speed of the camera as well as reducing power consumption. Continuous shooting is available at 3 frames per second to a maximum of six shots and multi-bracketing allows users to take a number of shots whilst varying the AE, WB and AF parameters. Movies can be captured with audio and clip lengths are only limited by the amount of memory available.
