Casio has extended its Exilim camera range with a new, easy-to-use 7.2-megapixel model, the Exilim Zoom EX-Z70.

 

July 22, 2006: Casio has extended its Exilim camera range with a new, easy-to-use 7.2-megapixel model, the Exilim Zoom EX-Z70.
Offering similar funtionality to the current EX-Z60 model but higher resolution, the EX-Z70 has an RRP of $499 and combines compact size with intuitive controls, a large 2.5-inch LCD monitor and long battery life. The camera comes with 8.3MB of built-in memory plus an SD card expansion slot and a 3x optical zoom lens (equivalent to 38-114mm in 35mm format). The lens will focus down to 40 cm for standard shooting and to 10 cm in Macro mode and the camera offers five focusing settings, including manual focus.
Shutter speeds range from ø‚ ½ to 1/2000 second in Auto mode, with exposures of up to four seconds possible in the Night Scene mode and two seconds in Fireworks mode. Top sensitivity setting is ISO 400. Three resolution settings are provided for movie clips: 640 x 480 and 512 x 384 at 30 fps and 320 x 240 at 15 fps. Monaural sound can be recorded with video capture. Up to three minutes and 16 seconds of high quality video can be recorded on a fast, 256MB memory card.
The EX-Z70 measures 95.2 x 60.6 x 19.8 mm (excluding projections) and is only 16.2 mm thick at its thinnest part. Weight without battery and card is 118 grams. The camera comes with a rechargeable lithium ion battery that claims to support 200 still shots under CIPA Standards.
