September 16, 2008: Carl Zeiss is expanding its SLR lens range to include new Zeiss ZE lenses for Canon’s EOS DSLR cameras, according to a report in PMA International’s Newsline.
The new ZE lenses come with an EF bayonet mount that will fit all analog and digital EOS cameras. Electronic contacts on the lens mounts support data transfer between camera and lens for programmed AE, shutter and aperture priority shooting modes and manual exposure setting. The aperture setting is controlled from the camera body while AF confirmation remains available with these manual focus lenses. The lens data and exposure data can also be accessed via the camera’s EXIF file, and E-TTL flash metering is supported. The first lenses, the Planar T 1,4/50 ZE and the Planar T 1,4/85 ZE, will be released towards the end of this year. For more information, visit www.zeiss.com/photo.
