October 27, 2006: The Canon Pixma MP960 all-in-one printer/copier/scanner goes on sale next month and is the first multi-function printer to include a film scanner unit that accepts up to 12 negatives or eight mounted slides at a time.
Designed for home users who want high quality photo printing and scanning, the Pixma MP960 uses seven individually replaceable inks: six colours for lab-quality photos and one pigment black for documents. Maximum output resolution is 9600 x 2400dpi and documents can be printed at up to 30 pages per minute. Additional features include CD/DVD printing, a new intuitive Easy-Scroll Wheel and a 3.5-inch colour viewing screen. The Pixma MP960 also offers a variety of direct-print options, including Card Direct, which allows users to print photos from compatible memory cards or mobile phones. Users can also print out favourite images in a variety of layouts including stickers.
On-board facilities are provided for editing and enhancing images using functions like Face Brightener, Noise Reduction, Vivid Photo and Red Eye correction. As a scanner, the Pixma MP960 offers a top resolution of 4800 x 4800dpi and uses CCD technology plus an aspheric ST (Super-Toric) lens system for reduced light distortion to produce high-resolution scans. A convenient scan-to-PDF feature lets users scan images or documents directly into PDF format for emailing or archiving.
As a copier, the Pixma MP960 features Canon’s new ‘Dual Gamut Colour Processing Technology’, which delivers optimum results when reproducing photo reprints, plain paper copies and second generation copies. A special Auto Exposure function eliminates the ‘see-through’ effect caused by photocopying double-sided pages. Copy speeds of up to 30 copies per minute (cpm) in black, or 22 cpm in colour are promised.
The Pixma MP960 will be available in stores nationally in November 2006 for an RRP of $599. For more information call Canon on 1800 021 167, or visit the website at www.canon.com.au.
