Canon has added two new models to its Digital Ixus camera range: the 7.1-megapixel Ixus 700 and the 5-megapixel Ixus 50.

February 19, 2005: Canon has added two new models to its Digital Ixus camera range: the 7.1-megapixel Ixus 700 and the 5-megapixel Ixus 50.
Both models feature Canon’s DiG!C II image processors. The Ixus 700 sports a 3x optical zoom lens with focal length equivalent to 37-111mm, while the Ixus 50 has a 35-105mm equivalent lens. Up to 4x digital zoom is provided. Both include a new “My Colors” setting that lets users modify the colours captured in various ways, along with nine special Scene Modes that automatically select settings according to predefined scenes.
Movie recording at VGA resolution is supported in both models, with frame rates of 15 and 30 fps selectable. Both models feature histogram displays in playback mode, up to 10x playback zoom, a new Image search setting and multi-image playback display, plus slideshow and movie playback. They also allow users to customise camera settings.
The Ixus 50 is expected to retail for $699, while the Ixus 700 will sell for $799. With the release of the new cameras, the RRP of the Ixus 40 will be reduced to $599. For more information, go to www.canon.com.au.
