August 26, 2008: October 1 will see the release by Canon of a new EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS telephoto zoom lens for EOS DSLR cameras with ‘APS-C-sized’ sensors.
Targeted at photographers who want an all-round lens that can be used in a wide variety of shooting situations, the new lens features an 18-200mm high zoom ratio of up to approximately 11 times, spanning wide to telephoto (focal length image equivalent to 29-320mm in 35mm format). Light weight and highly portable, the new lens will be ideal for travelling and situations where saving space is essential. Built-in Image Stabiliser technology provides camera shake compensation of approximately four shutter speeds, giving users greater opportunity to experiment with low-light, tripod-free photography.
