August 17, 2009: Canon has announced the release of a new A3+ business printer, the PIXMA iX7000, next month.
Designed for home office users, the PIXMA iX7000, is a premium A3+ printer that represents a step up from the current iX5000 model. Instead of four dye-based ink cartridges, the iX7000 uses six individual ink tanks and the Lucia pigment inks provides archival quality in excess of 100 years for colour and 200 years for B&W photos. The iX7000 also offers 4800 x 1200 dpi resolution and features 2 picolitre FINE print-head technology for sharper text and enhanced image detail.
A new PgR Technology in the iX7000 uses Clear Ink to coat the entire surface of the paper to provide enhanced effects including anti-curing, anti-ink bleeding, high sharpness and anti-print-through as well as superior print quality on various kinds of plain paper before the ink is ejected on the paper surface. Borderless prints can be produced up to A4 size (210 x 297 mm).

The iX7000 supports a wide range of media, including A3/LDR plain paper, A3+ photo paper and fine art paper. Three-way paper feeding enables media to be loaded from the rear tray, paper cassette or manual paper feed, which is used for thicker media. Auto duplex allows users to print on both sides of the paper and large 250-sheet paper cassettes allow long print runs to be done with ease.
Users can take advantage of an exclusive website for IX7000 owners, which provides a wide range of business templates that can be downloaded via driver connection. They include posters and standard business documents from pay slips to presentations to brochures. A built-in network card allows multiple computers to be connected to the printer.
The PIXMA iX7000 will go on sale next month at an RRP that is still to be determined. For more information, phone Canon on 1800 021 167 or visit www.canon.com.au.
