March 20, 2008: Canon will replace its popular Selphy ES1 snapshot printer with a new model, the Selphy ES2, which goes on sale at the beginning of April.
Featuring a new, space-saving, vertical design, the Selphy ES2 has a smaller footprint and a convenient carry handle for added portability. A dedicated Creative Print button provides direct access to an extended range of personalised photo print options, including printing images on postcards, photo stickers, pictures with speech bubbles, calendars and clip art as well as filter effects such as Faded Edges, Soft Focus and Star Lights. These and other creative printing options can be explored with a large 3.0-inch, tilting colour LCD viewer. The new vertical design outputs prints to the top of the printer. An Easy Scroll Wheel allows users to scan through images quickly and easily.

A DiG!C II processor makes fast, photo lab quality prints and the Selphy ES2 supports direct printing from most popular memory card formats and via a PictBridge interface. Wireless printing from devices such as mobile phones is available via an optional Bluetooth adaptor. The Selphy ES2 also offers wireless connectivity via IrDA. Image Adjustments include Image Optimise, Image Trim, My Colours, and improved Red-Eye Correction. Canon’s Easy System, which uses integrated ink and media cassettes, makes ink and paper replacement straightforward. Each Photo Pack contains sufficient ink and paper for 50 prints. Users can choose from three different printing sizes, with selected formats offering both colour and a dedicated black and white version. All packs are colour-coded for easy identification.
Like its predecessor, the Selphy ES2 a dye-sublimation printing process, which generates up to 16.8 million colours and ensures that prints are dry to the touch from the moment they emerge. Photos are finished with a durable, high-gloss protective layer, which guards against water, oil, gas and fingerprints. When kept in a photo album, prints retain their quality for up to 100 years. The Selphy ES2 will be sold at an RRP of $249. For more information, phone Canon on 1800 021 167, or visit the website at www.canon.com.au
