Canon will update its popular EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 lens with a new EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM lens, which is expected to go on sale in November 2016.

The new lens is the first Canon lens to come with an information display that can show the focusing distance, focal length equivalent (when the lens is mounted on a cropped-sensor camera) and shake detection.
It also features a Nano USM AF system, comprising a ring USM plus lead screw type stepping motor, which ensures faster, quieter and more responsive autofocusing.
Built-in optical stabilisation provides up to four f-stops of shake compensation.
The new lens is expected to sell for roughly the same price as its predecessor, which is currently listed in the Canon Australia online store at AU$529. It will be available from December 2016.
