October 25, 2005: Canon has released details of a new Ixus camera that will offer wireless direct printing and image transfer plus PC-controlled wireless shooting.
The new Ixus Wireless has a 5-megapixel CCD sensor and retracting 3x optical zoom lens (35-105mm equivalent), plus the popular compact size, rugged construction and smart styling of Ixus models. The camera body has a large 2.0-inch LCD monitor and real-image optical zoom viewfinder and the new model features super fast DiG!C II image processing. This delivers fast start-up times, speedy autofocusing, smooth continuous shooting, faster overall processing and excellent image quality. A new night display function helps users to achieve sharp focusing after dark, when exposure times up to 15 seconds can be used.
Like other recent Ixus cameras, the Ixus Wireless provides a wide range of automatic and manual shooting modes, including 13 scene pre-sets, nine ‘My Colours’ settings and seven white balance adjustments. Selectable 9-point AiAF and fixed single centre point AF allows users to capture subjects in almost any position within the frame. The Print/Share button allows easy ‘one push’ printing and downloading straight from the camera via either Wi-Fi Certified IEEE802.11b wireless or the camera’s USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface.
The Ixus Wireless is scheduled for release in Australia early in 2006. No pricing has been determined as yet. For product details, visit http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/BeBit-e.html or www.canon.com.au.
