August 26, 2008: Six new models have been added to Canon’s Pixma range in two categories: basic models for home users and more sophisticated models with creative functions.
The new Pixma Everyday printer range – the MP480, MP540 and MP240 – makes home-based multitasking simple with high-speed prints, copies and scans. All feature a Hybrid System that can produce high quality documents and lab quality photos and all come with an Auto Scan Mode that automatically detects, scans and saves documents. PictBridge Technology supports computer-free printing direct from digital cameras and each model has an Auto Photo Fix function for red eye removal and clearer images.
The Pixma MP480 sports a 1.8-inch TFT screen for previewing images, while the MP540 has a 2.0-inch TFT colour screen and scroll wheel to make selections easy. The MP480 and MP240 are due for release next month, with the MP540 following in November. Pricing for all three models has still to be determined. All three models feature Chromalife100+ technology for long-lasting photo prints. They are also Energy Star certified and offer a number of paper-saving print options.

Canon’s new range of Advanced Pixma printers enables users to print t-shirt transfers, CD/DVD prints, calendars, origami and colourful posters. All three models feature Chromalife100+ technology for long-lasting photo prints. Pixma products minimise resource consumption by using recycled plastics and less packaging. Smaller body sizes and reduced packaging also reduce carbon emissions in the transportation phase. The new models are produced under very stringent ISO14001 environmental guidelines and have been Energy Star certified. They also offer a Quick Start function to reduce standby energy consumption.
Building on popularity of the MP610 it replaces, the MP630 supports high-quality 9600 dpi printing for photos, CD/DVD labels and other creative materials and offers automatic duplexing. The top-of-line MP980 model supports wireless connectivity for quick prints, copies and scans from anywhere in the house. Replacing the MP970 model, it has a large 3.5-inch TFT colour viewing screen, along with Auto Photo Fix, improved printing of greys and the ability to scan or print photos from 35mm negatives, positives and slides.
