August 22, 2008: Canon has released three new colour flatbed scanners with features for digitising documents and photo images plus easy options for saving the results.
The CanoScan LiDE 100 and LiDE 200 models are designed for general use and provide facilities for copying and saving documents and photos. Both models enable users to create email attachments, PDF files or colour copies in an instant and both include a Multi-Scan mode for scanning several images at a time. When connected with Canon PIXMA inkjet printers, users can achieve synchronicity with a one-button colour copy option, which directs prints from the scanner, via PC, to the print tray in an instant. User-friendly bundled software allows users to set colour and brightness levels on documents with ScanGear CS, or edit photos using Arcsoft PhotoStudio.
The CanoScan LiDE 100 (RRP $119) is an entry-level replacement to the LiDE 25 and supports 2400 x 4800 dpi optical resolution plus 48-bit colour depth. Typical scan-to-PC times average only 24 seconds and users can create multiple-page PDF files with a dedicated PDF button on the scanner’s interface. The thin and light design, combined with a clip-on stand, also offer the option of vertical scanning to save space and help ensure straight images.

To keep copies and scans aligned, the CanoScan LiDE 200 features an advanced design, which offers the option to scan in the upright position and includes a USB lead that transfers data straight to the computer or hard drive.
