October 30, 2006: Canon’s latest all-in-one A4 photo printers, the Pixma MP600 and Pixma MP810, provide an easy-to-use total home office solution that can also deliver lab quality photos.
On sale this month, the new models feature a special Easy-Scroll Wheel that provides easy access to frequently-used functions, reducing the need for separate button controls. The Easy-Scroll Wheel rotates clockwise and anticlockwise, stopping at each icon to display, via the TFT screen, a brief description of what each function does, while guiding users through the process. Canon has also added new ‘Dual Gamut Colour Processing Technology’ to improve the quality of scanned copies and photo reprints. This technology also minimises loss of quality when making copies of copies.
The Pixma MP600 and Pixma MP810 use ChromaLife100 inks, which offer album storage lightfastness of approximately 100 years with selected Canon photo papers. Canon’s 1 picolitre FINE print-head technology, which places millions of microscopic ink droplets on the page, ensures detailed photo and document prints. Users can also make high-definition prints at a resolution of 9600 x 2400 dpi. Photo prints can be produced in around 29 seconds, while document printing speeds of up to 31 pages per minute (ppm) in black and up to 24 ppm in colour are supported.

Both printers include built-in editing facilities that include red-eye correction, face brightening and noise reduction plus a vivid photo function and adjustments for brightness, contrast and colour hue. Users can also print customised labels onto CDs and DVDs. A handy automatic duplex unit is provided for double sided printing for school assignments, business documents or photo albums. The Pixma MP600 is priced at $349, with a wireless version, the Pixma MP600R, will be available from November for $449. The Pixma MP810, which has a top scanning resolution of 4800 x 4800 dpi and includes a Film Adaptor Unit for scanning film negatives and slides, has an RRP of $449.
