Both models are compact and light in weight, making them ideal for travellers and family photographers.  They have 16-megapixel image sensors and DIGIC 4 processors plus built-in Optical Image Stabilisation with Intelligent IS, which minimises the effects of camera shake.  The PowerShot SX520 HS features a 42x optical zoom lens, which can be doubled to 84x with the  ZoomPlus function. Zoom framing assist helps keep subjects in the frame at high magnification by automatically adjusting the zoom to maintain subjects at a pre-set size within the frame. This camera includes Manual, Av and Tv shooting modes, along with Full HD (1080p) movie recording at 30 fps.
