August 22, 2006: September and October will see Canon release of two new digital camcorders, the DC22 DVD model and the HV10 HDV.
Due for release in early September, the DC22 replaces the popular DC10 DVD camcorder and offers support for the new dual layer DVDs. This extends recording time from 30 minutes to 54 minutes per disk. The DC22 also sports a 2.2-megapixel CCD sensor and 10x optical zoom lens. DiG!C DV processing and an RGB colour filter ensure high-quality video clips and printable still images. Selectable 16:9 Widescreen enables users to record clips that will fill the screen of a widescreen TV and built-in electronic image stabilisation minimises camera shake.
Photographic functions include selectable 9-point AF, selectable metering modes, white balance, Auto Exposure Bracketing and continuous shooting up to 4 frames/second. The DC22 also permits one-handed operation, allowing fast access to 12 manual and programmed auto exposure modes. A built-in light guide flash and mini video light are provided for illumination of subject in low light. The DC22 is expected to sell for $899.

The HV10 is designed for easy high-definition shooting and includes a 10x optical zoom lens, a Hybrid AF system with selectable 9-point AF. The new model also comes with selectable metering modes, white balance, Auto Exposure Bracketing and continuous shooting up to 4 frames/second. A MiniSD card slot for storage of still images to memory card and the camera sports a Print/Share button for one-touch photo prints from any PictBridge compatible printer.
