February 7, 2011: Canon will add two new ‘entry-level’ models, the EOS 1100D and EOS 600D, to its digital SLR camera line-up in March.
The EOS 1100D slots into the range between the EOS 1000D and EOS 550D and features a 12.2 megapixel CMOS sensor and wider ISO range (100-6400) plus HD video recording (720p). Offered in Black, Metallic Grey and a limited edition Red, the EOS 1100D introduces a new Feature Guide function that provides simple explanations of shooting modes and functions. A new Basic feature allows users to choose the correct settings according to the ambience of the scene.

At the top end of the entry-level range is the new EOS 600D, Canon’s most creative and powerful DSLR yet in this category. Positioned between the popular EOS 550D and EOS 60D, the EOS 600D boasts an 18 megapixel CMOS sensor and Canon’s DIG!C 4 image processor and supports a sensitivity range of ISO 100-6400, which can be expanded up to ISO 12800.

EOS Movie with Full HD is a new feature that now includes Movie Digital Zoom, a first for EOS. Evolving from Canon’s Movie Crop function, users now have the flexibility to digitally zoom up to approximately 10x when shooting video. Video Snapshot allows users to shoot footage of a set length of time (a selection from 2, 4 or 8 seconds) and edit memories into a short film, with the added option of background music.
