September 1, 2009: Canon has unveiled a new flagship DSLR for enthusiast photographers, the EOS 7D, which tops the company’s ‘APS-C’ sensor line-up.
Targeted at serious photo enthusiasts, the new model is considered the best all-rounder in the EOS range and features an 18.0 megapixel Canon-developed CMOS sensor. It is the first EOS camera with Dual DiG!C 4 image processors. This combination provides high image quality plus fast shooting speeds, with up to eight frames/second possible for bursts of 90 JPEGs or 15 CR2.RAW files. The sophisticated 19-point AF system has nine selectable focus points and includes a new Live Face Detection AF mode that identifies and captures faces in the frame.

The EOS 7D also offers a standard ISO range of ISO100 to 6400, which expandable to ISO 12,800 via a Custom setting. Handy functions like Auto Lighting Optimiser and Peripheral Illumination correction are also provided, along with the EOS integrated cleaning system and support for Full HD video recording. Twenty-seven Custom functions are provided, along with a My Menu setting and users can register up to three combinations of camera settings in the internal memory.
Supplied accessories include the LP-E6 battery pack, LC-E6 charger, IFC-200U interface cable, AVC-DC400ST stereo AV cable, CR1616 date/time lithium battery, EW-EOS7D wide strap and Canon’s EOS Digital Solution software disk.
