May 26, 2006: Canon has expanded its DVD camcorder range with two new models that slot into the top and bottom of its line-up. Both models feature Canon Real Widescreen recording and both record to three-inch DVD-R/-RW discs, which can store up to 60 minutes of video (120 minutes on a double-sided disc) and are compatible with most home DVD players. At the top of the range is the DC40, which sports a high-resolution 10x optical zoom lens and 4-megapixel sensor for printable still pictures. An RGB Primary Colour Filter, which delivers natural-looking tones and superior colour rendition, and Canon’s proprietary DiG!C DV image processor allows the DC40 to capture stunning images. The DC40 includes Advanced Photo Features such as: 9-point AiAF AF and Aperture Priority (AV) and Shutter Priority (TV) autoexposure, providing further creative control for photo enthusiasts. The camera’s Simultaneous Photo Recording feature lets users record video and capture still images at the same time and a Print/Share Button allows easy, one-touch printing of images up to A4 size, straight from the camera. The DC40 is supplied with Roxio MyDVD software for creating movies with captions, graphics and synchronised sound tracks. The DC100 boasts a Canon 25x zoom lens and image stabiliser for minimising camera shake. It allows photo capture to DVD and comes with the same DiG!C DV image processor as the D40. Both models feature a 2.7-inch widescreen display panel and record sound in Dolby Digital Stereo. The DC40 (RRP $1,699.00) is available now, while the DC100 (RRP $899.00) will be released nationally in early June. For more information phone Canon on 1800 021 167 or visit www.canon.com.au.
