Winner of the Camera Grand Prix Camera of the Year award, which goes to the still camera recognised as the best of all released during the period, is the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II. It was cited as having ‘expanded the concept of the mirrorless camera’ and showing ‘an exciting future vision’.   Olympus had a second winner in its M. Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm f/4.0 IS PRO lens, which took out the Camera Grand Prix 2017 Lens of the Year for ‘performance [that] goes beyond what is expected for the class’. Olympus also received the Readers Award for the OM-D E-M1 Mark II, making a trifecta. This award is determined by general users, who cast their votes on a dedicated website.

Editors’ Awards went to the Nikon D500 and the Fujifilm GFX 50S cameras. The D500 was commended for being ‘moderately priced [and] readily available for non-professional users’ and offering ‘cost performance without compromising its basic features’. The GFX 50S was praised for having ‘contributed to a wider recognition of medium-format mirrorless cameras as a new genre’ and being ‘the first unit on the new product line’.
