February 2, 2011: The Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) is calling for submissions to Australia’s most coveted photography accolades, the Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPAs).
Now in their 35th year, the Canon AIPP APPAs attract a prize pool of more than $60,000 in cash and prizes including the grand prize – $20,000 worth of Canon EOS professional digital camera equipment and the coveted title of 2011 Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year. This year’s contest includes a new ø¢â‚¬ËœFusion’ category, which allows photographers to integrate video clips into picture slide shows.
Additionally, there will be changes to the Commercial category. In place of the AIPP Commercial Photographer of the Year award will be three separate commercial categories: advertising, fashion and corporate. All commercial entries will be judged digitally meaning that no prints will be required.
Entries for the prestigious awards open Monday 4th April and will be received online until Wednesday 25th May 4.30pm with print submissions received up until 5.00pm, Friday 28th May 2011. To enter the Canon AIPP APPAs, photographers must register online first. For entry rules and details on how to enter visit www.appa.aippblog.com.

Judging for the Canon AIPP APPAs will take place in Sydney’s Darling Harbour from 24th – 26th June and is open to the public for viewing. The winner of the prestigious awards will be announced at a special dinner on Monday 27th June, 2011 also in Sydney.
