The Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) is calling for entries to the most renowned and prestigious professional photography competition in Australia: the AIPP Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards (or ‘the APPAs’).

 

February 19, 2009: The Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) is calling for entries to the most renowned and prestigious professional photography competition in Australia: the AIPP Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards (or ‘the APPAs’).
2009 marks the 33rd year of the APPAs which now attracts a prize pool of more than $40,000 in cash and prizes, including the grand prize – a $20,000 Canon EOS professional digital SLR camera outfit and the title of 2009 AIPP Canon Australia Professional Photographer of the Year. Categories for the 2009 AIPP Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards are:

– AIPP Australian Documentary Photographer of the Year
-AIPP Australian Commercial Photographer of the Year
– AIPP Australian Illustrative Photographer of the Year

– AIPP Australian Portrait Photographer of the Year
– AIPP Australian Wedding Photographer of the Year
– AIPP Australian Science Environment & Nature Photographer of the Year
– AIPP Australian Open Category Award
– AIPP Student Photographer of the Year
– AIPP Tertiary Photography Institution of the Year
– AIPP Highest Scoring Print Award
– AIPP Highest Scoring Monochrome Print Award (Athol Smith Award)
– AIPP Highest Scoring Colour Print Award
– AIPP Highest Scoring Portrait Open Awards
– AIPP Highest Scoring Print – Environmental Award
– AIPP Highest Scoring Print – Wedding Open Award
– AIPP Highest Scoring Print – Wedding Photojournalism Award
– AIPP Australian Wedding Album of the Year Award
– AIPP Australian Photography Book Award
– AIPP Press Photography Award
– AIPP Press Photographer of the Year Award
Entries will be received from Monday 4th May 2009 through to Friday 19th June 2009 and are subject to three gruelling days of judging undertaken by some of Australia’s most recognised photographers. Each entry is individually critiqued and scored via a scrupulous peer-review judging process to determine the highest-scoring prints across the different categories.
