January 14, 2008: Brother International has unveiled a new wireless inkjet Multi-Function Centre with fax, colour print, colour scan and colour copy functions.
The new Brother MFC-885CW, which has an RRP of $499, has a 4.2-inch colour LCD for previewing faxes and accessing menu functions. It also sports a cordless DECT handset, along with a built-in USB, Ethernet and wireless (802.11b/g) interfaces plus network ready functions. A built-in answering machine is also provided as standard. Direct photo printing is supported from digital cameras and memory cards and the printer has a dedicated PhotoCapture Centre with image editing and photo printing software.
The MFC-885CW features print speeds of up to 30 pages per minute (ppm) for mono and 25ppm for colour documents. Output resolutions of up to 1200 x 6000 dots per inch (dpi) are supported. An automatic document feeder makes copying, faxing and scanning multi-page documents easy. A dedicated 4×6 photo paper tray will hold up to twenty sheets of 4×6-inch glossy paper independently of the standard paper tray.
