The annual fund-raising initiative for the Ballarat International Foto Biennale will be held at Gallery Eleven40 in Melbourne, on Sunday August 31 from midday until 4pm.
The Gala Event features more than 125 anonymously-submitted prints by some of the best-known and most collectible photographers from Australia and overseas. The event represents a fantastic chance to purchase a ‘one-off’ archival print for well under its usual value. The selection order is made by lucky dip, so when you get to ‘spend’ your red dot is also a lottery.
Guests pre-purchase a numbered Red Dot for $125 to enter the ‘print selection order’ lucky dip. The first print selection will be auctioned to the highest bidder, and from there on in, when your number is drawn you get to place your red dot on any of the prints that remain. Red Dots can be pre-purchased online at http://www.trybooking.com/92603.This entitles the holder to choose one print from the BIFB Collection 2014. There are only as many red dots as there are images in the exhibition, so nobody misses out.
Proceeds from the fundraiser support Australia’s most important festival of photography, the Ballarat International Foto Biennale. Online red dot purchases close August 29th and if there are any left you can purchase one at the event prior to the start of the selection process at 2.00pm on Sunday August 31.
