The Ballarat International Foto Biennale has announced a fundraising event that will offer 125 prints from 125 photographers (including a selection of Australia’s elite photographers) for sale at a special gala afternoon at Eleven40 Gallery, 1140 Malvern Road, Malvern, Victoria on Sunday 14 July.
This initiative gives collectors a chance to purchase works by a famous Australian or international photographer. Photographers who have submitted to BIFB Collection 2103 include: Andrew Chapman, Anthony Browell, Arsineh Houspain, Chris Budgeon, Colin Page, Cynthia Karalla (USA), Doc Ross (NZ), Francisco Diaz (USA), Claudia Fahrenkemper (Germany), Jackie Ranken (NZ/Aust), Jeff Busby, Jeff Moorfoot, Michael Coyne, Marcus Bunyan, Maggie Diaz, John Gollings, Ponch Hawkes, Vikk Shayen, Rusell Joslin (USA), Robert Billington and Vanessa Louviere (USA). All works will be exhibited without any indication as to the author, and sold for $100 each. The proceeds of these sales will be used to support the staging of the 2013 Ballarat International Foto Biennale (BIFB).
The exhibition, which has been supported by Canson and Epson, will be previewed during the week prior to the special gala event. Those looking to take advantage of this incredible opportunity are required to pre purchase a Red Dot for $100 that entitles the owner to choose one print from the BIFB Collection 2013. The exhibition will officially open at 1.00pm on Sunday 14 July, with the first print selection to be auctioned at 1.45pm. The subsequent “print selection” order will be determined by a lucky dip. Also auctioned will be a BIFB Collection 2013 book donated by Blurb that will represent all the work at the exhibition and the names of the photographers will be revealed.
The event will also include fine food and wine and the chance for the photographic community to get together. Costs for the event are $25 for Red Dot holders and $45 for non Red Dot holders.
