The latest Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus smart-phones will further challenge the compact digicam market with embedded cameras that offer improved autofocusing, similar shooting functions and superior sharing capabilities.

The new iPhones come with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch Retina HD displays, respectively, and feature a unibody enclosure of anodised aluminium that is seamlessly integrated with the shaped glass of the display. The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 screen offers 1334 x 750 resolution, while the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 dots. Both displays provide higher contrast for deeper blacks and dual-domain pixels for more accurate colours at wider viewing angles.
The 8-megapixel iSight cameras in both models include phase-detection ‘Focus Pixels for faster autofocusing plus optical image stabilisation technology. A new 43mp Panorama stitching mode uses gyroscopic data captured during the sweep to improve stitching accuracy. . High-definition video on iPhone improves with faster frame rates up to 60fps for 1080p video and 240fps for slow-motion, as well as continuous autofocus, cinematic video stabilisation and time-lapse video. The 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera has a new sensor, larger f/2.2 aperture and advanced new features including burst mode and HDR video.
Both models offer faster LTE download speeds of up to 150 Mbps and support high-quality voice calls over LTE (VoLTE) as well as Wi-Fi calling, with support for up to 20 LTE wireless bands. Both iPhones also include 802.11ac Wi-Fi with speeds up to 433 Mbps and Bluetooth 4.0. The new iPhones come with iOS 8, which provides a simpler, faster and more intuitive user experience and new features including QuickType keyboard, a new Health app, Family Sharing and iCloud Drive.
iPhone 6 comes in gold, silver or space grey, and will be available in Australia for an RRP of AUD$869 for the 16GB model, AUD$999 for the 64GB model and, for the first time, a new 128GB model for AUD$1,129. iPhone 6 Plus comes in gold, silver or space grey, and will be available in Australia for AUD$999 for the 16GB model, AUD$1,129 for the 64GB model and AUD$1,249 for the new 128GB model.
