The Australian Institute of Professional Photography has named Alice Bennett as its new president and her predecessor, Jackie Dean, will become the industry body’s first female Chairperson.

 

July 1, 2008: The Australian Institute of Professional Photography has named Alice Bennett as its new president and her predecessor, Jackie Dean, will become the industry body’s first female Chairperson.
Alice Bennett has been involved in the photographic industry since age 15 when she commenced working with her photographer father (Richard Bennett) and is keen to support others in to the industry. She established an early reputation as an incisive, imaginative and accomplished photographer in a diverse range of disciplines including landscapes, ocean racing, aerial photography, portraiture and weddings.
After gaining a Diploma of Photography from the Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE in 1997, she was awarded her AIPP Master of Photography at 24 and her first gold bar at 28. Alice is the 2007 Bride Tasmania AIPP Tasmanian Wedding Photographer of the Year. Her most recent work includes travel images published in a book, Africa.
Throughout her two year term, she intends to establish the inaugural AIPP Scholarship and encourage other young men and women to get involved in professional photography.
